I had this happen to me after starter replacement - turns out the guys who did the starter unplugged (or disturbed somehow) the transmission harness which caused the transmission to go in safe mode....

I tried option #2 on the back pillars - no dice. It's hard to get to them and thus it's hard to glue them right. Mine got saturated with glue and when that dried the material harden and looked weird....
