Question Using LCI shock absorbers on Pre-LCI model?

I've got a '08 X5 3.0si w/ standard suspension.

When replacing the shock absorbers, would it be ok to use the one on the facelifted model? There seems to be no change to the rear shock absorbers...

BTW, replaced the water pump/thermostat/anti-freeze at the dealership and cost $960USD ($670 parts + $220 labor + tax)

I hope the new ones...

I'm not complaining about the services BMW provided. It's not like they're denying my warranty claim.

But whether it's within the warranty period or not, any vehicle with such history of failure...

BTW, the coolant temperature sensor isn't in the water pump as my post states above. It's the part in the diagram.

Thank you for your help though. It was still worth the try. I'm looking to replace the valvetronic parts...

I'm curious if I can just replace the valvetronic and vanos units or if the whole cylinder head must be replaced to be able to change the valvetronic/vanos.

Went to the dealer but the SA strongly dissuaded me from replacing the o2 sensor, saying a faulty o2 sensor brings drivability issues or CEL. Now all I can do is just wait for a fault code.

Yeah, a BMW master tech had a look at it for two weeks, admits there's a symptom, but can't pinpoint what's wrong. Told me to come back when there's a fault code recorded or if the symptom gets worse.
