The coil may be bad.

It has to relearn how to run the engine after restarts.

I would suggest locating another DME and swapping to see if the problem goes away.
Other wise, double check the cps and double check the alignment/gap of the sensor and the trigger wheel.

They will want the old one back for core, or at least they do for E30 M3 SI boards.
