Reporting back... no problems with floor jacks or jack stands chipping the epoxy. I did put a single piece of cardboard under the jack stands - just in case.

Sounds like they created an intermittent short in the door lock control circuit - probably something to do with the neutral/ground wire. I believe the radio and the door locks share a common ground.

I've driven both my Z4 and Z3 in reasonable snowy conditions. With the right winter tires, I've easily passed over areas were trucks were stuck. The catch is of course the height of the snow pack....
