Another thought - having the level bounce back up is a good thing as it means you are holding pressure, not leaking. It's like you got an air spring in there.

You can either clean out and repack the bearings or replace them for about $35 for both. Might want to replace the brushes also. There are a number of DIY videos and write ups you can google up.

Found same type of thing in grandaughters car. When you get arcihing at a bad contact point plastic will melt like butter. Bend, twist or solder whatever to get a firm contact and your goodto go.

It will be quicker and easier if you disconnect the positive power post in the engine comartment instead of the battery terminal in the truck. This way you can watch the meter as you pull the fuses...
