I have found that when using my B800, I had to invoke the CA option several times. From my experience, it's far more reliable when you have the round connector in the engine bay.

+1. You mentioned that you saw steam, hunt down where that is coming from. Not only is it letting steam out, its likely letting air in and air in the system will cause the needle to go to the red.

Really depends on what you want in a vehicle. They are too different from each other to really compare. Naturally, most if not all (including me) would vote for the E39.
