Hbwt +1

I'm with HBWT. Dealer wanted $636 to replace one RFT. Four bucks for a plug kit at the local auto parts store. Plugged the screw hole and used mini compressor to reinflate. For many years, Porsche...

Tpms

Are you talking about the tire warning light in the center of the dash, or the tire light on the center console? If you do not, in fact, have TPMS in the rear, I doubt if the light will ever go out,...

Stay away. These mythological products are just cash cows for dealers. $6.00 and 20 minutes of your time with a polymer wax will achieve the same result.

New Age Polymers

There have been many advancements in car wax technology over the past few years. I find those waxes with a polymer base the easiest to apply and remove. I question their longevity, however, when...

Smooth Rider

My X-I 2.8 S-Drive with M-Sport pkg. was two weeks old when I went on a three week driving vacation from Phoenix to Lake Tahoe and back. I was impressed by how well the car rode, especially with the...

Painting rotor/lug mounting area

In an effort to preserve originality, what about silver? Perhaps, engine paint for heat resistance? I've seen black and it can provide a good background for colored calipers.

Zeroto60times.com

I don't know if the results conform to what you consider real world, but I find the web site zeroto60times.com to be the most comprehensive compilation. Unfortunately, 2014 times for the X-I are not...

Roundel Blue

OK, I'll get a few pics. Haven't taken any that show the calipers that well. The 10 split spoke wheels cover a lot of the brake system.

Calipers

I noticed that Ford Engine Blue is the same shade of blue as the BMW Roundel emblem. Bought a can of DupliColor at Autozone for six bucks. Masked and sprayed the calipers on the car. Heat resistent...

MPG 2wd 2.0 I4

I'm getting about 24-25 mpg around town. On a recent trip to Flagstaff, loaded to capacity (the X-1, not me), I got 32 mpg. I suspect I could reach 34 or 36 without a full load on level ground.

Cold air leak

I noticed a similar situation on my X1. Seems to be a leak where the brushed metal trim meets the dash, on the right side, directly above the glove box. Definitely not heated air. Cold, outside air....

Discount Won My Business For Life

Their policy of free flat repair earned my business for life. Unfortunately, many RFT's are "NOT repairable" according to the manufacturer. Depending on the damage, good old tire plugs can prove to...

Agree With Consumer's Report

Based upon my X-I experience thus far, with no serious defects, I can only agree with the Consumer's Report conclusions. That is, the X-I is the best compact luxury SUV. But, the BMW brand, in...

Good Model-Bad Brand?

That same publication that rated the X-I the best small luxury SUV rated the BMW brand 17th out of 32 (34?). The only Euro brand to make the cut was Audi. BMW has some 'splainin to do!

To 328AL. I pulled my sales contract. Neither the tint nor the rear mat appear. I don't recall what they charge. I paid zero, my favorite price.

My Fav - '95 325i Coupe

My first BMW was my favorite. A '95 325i Coupe. It was one of those cars where everything just came together. The X-1 is my second choice, with 5 Bimmers in between, each a good car, but not quite...

RFT's Evolve

Given my experience with RFT's on my 2007 Z-4 Coupe and my 2011 528i, I was fully prepared to swap out the RFT's for non RFT's immediately upon deivery of my X-1 M-Sport. Much to my surprise, the...
