BMW switched their M engine oils from Castrol to Shell so it seems like more than a coincidence. Major corporations don't openly endorse each other unless some financial arrangement is in place.

Thanks jcl! I can't tell the model of Z3 in that pic, but it looks like they put M covers on a standard seat so the side bolster area droops. Mine fit pretty snugly.

Great looking car! Is it still all stock? The M52 2.8 is a nearly bulletproof engine if well maintained and is an easy car to work on if you like to do car work. Enjoy her in the coming summer...

You did the right thing. $10.5k should buy you a pristine 6-cyl non-M. Even higher mileage but good condition M roadsters could be had at that price. Convertible prices are at their peak right now....

Congrats and welcome. It looks like a really well cared for example. Did any maintenance records come with it? Read up on freshening your cooling system and upgrading your suspension.

+1 on the Contnentals if you want a good summer tire with very light cold weather duty. Truly the best solution is a separate set of winter wheels with winter rubber. Agree with reading comparison...

For a street driven car, stay with OEM bushings all around. The one exception would be the rear subframe carrier bushings - switch those to urethane units from Ireland Engineering, Powerflex, or AKG....
