Check for water in the trunk first.. there are a lot of electronics under the spare tire (if you have one), and water can pool there if the drains around the sunroof get clogged.

I'm not sure you NEED to take that bolt out all the way. I know had a few that I never got all the way off... as long as it unscrews far enough to let go of the threads, leave the bolt where it is...
