The guys I know have pretty much given up...

The guys I know have pretty much given up importing recent U.S. models because of such coding issues. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, they have all added software restrictions to discourage grey market imports....

If you haven't already, you might check the trunk to trunk lid cable where it bends most sharply approaching the trunk lid. It would not surprise me if broken or cracked wires inside the black sheath...

My wild guesses from a great distance are a fuse blew during installation because the battery was connected, or the WIP...

From what I remember, the diagnostic cap has pins to short the K-bus to 12V and prevent modules from responding to noise. It also has pins on OBD-II cars that chain one of the bus lines to the OBD-II...
