Listen to this if you want to see what an exploded exp tank looks like under your hood. The float in mine broke and then the tank exploded like 2 weeks later while I was on the highway.

Yeah, that is more of a clatter than a tick.... I agree it doesn't sound good. I have some lifter ticking on a cold start but only for a few minutes. What does BMW think it is?

Ticking sound, lower drivers side of the engine...

My car sat for about 6 weeks without starting... when I finally got around to starting it of course it ran rough for the first 30 seconds or so. Once if smoothed out there was still a noticeable...

You can try spraying a small squirt of Armour-all...

You can try spraying a small squirt of Armour-all on right on the buttons and wipe the excess, this should loosen them up.
