A well maintained E38 should have no trouble breaking the 300K mark so 200K isn't out of the question. The key ingredient being well-maintained.

You could probably get him to budge on the price...

Nope, it will still start. I'd start by checking the neutral safety switch. Much cheaper than replacing your transmission.

Nope, 'cause it's not the steering angle sensor. That has nothing to do with the the tilting of the steering column.

In any case, I just found a whole steering column out of a '95 740i for $150...

Thanks for the info! I sent pics to a rep at the local dealer and everyone there seems convinced it has something to do with the steering angle sensor... My steering angle sensor is still installed...

I have been running Lubro Moly Synthoil 5W-30 in my '95 since I got it (May '10) and it's been good. I imagine anything similar should work just as good.

Yup, check voltage (battery, alternator) first. Then check for fluid leaks around the transmission. Then you could get the car coded to see what faults there might be, if any.

They came with the car. I contacted BMW JP to get some info on the car, and I was told these were ordered with the car. So I'd be hard-pressed to think these are replica wheels.
