I think it is hit-or-miss. I have had mine for 12 months / 25k miles. First year maintenance was $1100, spent on oil, cooling system, FSU, MAF, front pads and light bulbs. That is a reasonable list...

a bad sensor will cause the gas gauge to act like it is possessed. when mine went (sensor on driver's side rear), the gas gauge was off, along with a bunch of other things that were mentioned earlier...
