Yes there'a a lot of travel in this clutch. Compared to my brother's 911, you are pushing that pedal much further. I would say if a driver shifts well, the clutch could get 100K miles easy.

It's hard for me to know how much brake dust you have, but my pads are OEM and produce very little dust. I think BMW changed the pad composition somewhere along the line because other E89 owners say...

I use Redline too and they specify Redline D6 ATF for Z4 manual trannies. I drive the Z until it gets into about the 30's and I will say that for the first 5 minutes the shifting is a little notchy....
