And if all else fails check your rear window is still sealed to your car!!!! MINE made a thumping noise when going over bumps i found that i could pick up on the glass and only the corner was holding...

changed filter from bottom of car and ditched the factory clamps for the power steering i unbolted it from top and unhooked the hoses and washed the resivior tank and then flushed it out!

the m50 engine is a high reving engine and mine is very unhappy till about 3000 rpms then it wants to fly. i guess its because the 3.31 bore and short stroke of 2.95. i rebuilt mine and was amazed...

PO740 torque converter clutch circut malfuntion. try and see if the connectors are making agood contact and check your wires for chaffing. hope it works out well!

I too was having that same problem but in a 325i...

I too was having that same problem but in a 325i with a 4l30e tranny! so i rebuilt it in living room and found that the overrun piston seal had rolled over into the servo bore causing a bad internal...
