Only thing I'd look closely for is oil leaks and Power steering leaks neither should cost too much to fix.

It looks like it's been well maintained, nice car!

I agree, most piston ring wear problems went away when we switched to fuel injection. Once you figure out where the air leaks are coming from and any other problems that are making it run so bad...

Here is a pretty good guide to replacing the Sealing Sleeve on a ZF trans, it's from a Lincoln Navigator but it's the exact same transmission.

Pretty easy job if you have mechanical skills.
