When do you use the cover? I'm afraid of keeping top down for more than a day. And I always use a cloth over window when down to prevent micro scratches to form.

Leaking steering rack

Found some clear looking oil on garage floor and took it in to inspect. Turns out it is the left side end of steering rack leaking from seam that looks like a sealed or gasketed spot is leaking....

Broke loose the vent adjuster at center of dashboard

Battery replaced and X5 is happy again. Driving record showed short trips lately and battery at 50% so I use it as a backup battery at home, retiring old one of poorer quality.

Jumped it and it did start.
