Extracted the vent by prying with flat blade...

Extracted the vent by prying with flat blade driver. Came out intact except for 2 of the 3 snap tabs. Couple of pics showing results. Note the flat rubber gasket on the original Behr unit. Hopefully...

If I understood your original reasons for trying to remove this nipple, they related somehow to the removal of the rest of the cooling system?? I actually have a leak coming out of the elbow...

I put the URO alloy power steering pulley on 42K miles ago- spins true and the machining was smooth. Can't recall what brand but had to return a sorry alloy pulley that had sharp & jagged groove...

I sourced virtually all of the cooling system overhaul kit from Autohaus AZ. The Stewart pump was $165 then. I see they just recently bumped it to $195

The manuf claim is it provides 20% improved...

Might be my old eyes, but I can't see where the Vanos oil line washers qualify as "crush" washers. They look like solid alloy washers to me.
