I have the same problem. There is a small metal part inside the door that is broken on mine. It only needs to be changed. You may have the same problem. I can post a picture of it when I fix mine....

I got two bottles of the blue BMW coolant. The parts guy said its enough to change the V8, just has to be mixed with distilled water. It wasn't really much more expensive than other good coolants....

Yes the bentley manual.
Its the window lifter without motor, front left. that I replaced. Thats how you would know which one it is at realoem.com they don't call it driver side or passenger side...

You only need to jack it off....oops I mean jack it up if you need to get underneath the car. I can fit under and reach the oil drain plug so I don't have to put it up on jacks.

I have exactly the same problem with my 2002 X5 4.4. Highway driving only. Can the freezing line cause damage do you think? A frozen line can build up a lot of pressure and blow out.
