That car probably has a cold start valve that can cause those kind of problems. Check into that. The Bentley manual has a procedure for testing its operation and output.

Is the ECM correct for this particular motor? If you swapped everything and have everything connected properly, you probably need to have an ECM for a m20b28; my guess is they are different.:dunno:

Not really, you can do the OFHG in about an hour or two and the parts are less than $10. It's the most rewarding bang for your buck DIY any BMW owner can do.
