Over-revved?

When the valve train is over-revved, many failure points emerge. If the valve springs don't break, the valve keepers can rattle out or shatter and drop the valve.

Grinding = metal shavings in a closed system

If you are truly getting grinding noises from within the converter, the results of this grinding (metal shavings) are being carried into the tranny with the fluid, hence the dealer's recommendation...
