Lo and behold, the CEL disappeared today after almost two months being lit. Only thing done to the X5 was that I added 2.5 gallons of DEF while doing an oil change. CEL will probably pop back up...

Interesting. I'll look into ProVent and keep an eye on any oil leaks, haven't seen yet. I noticed the oil level drop maybe 4,000 miles after oil change.

Once I started doing my own oil changes, I've been using Mobil 1 5W30 ESP. Before that, the Castrol Edge 5W30 used by the dealership under free maintenance.

I noticed that the oil sensor reading was halfway on our 2010 X5d at around 86k (it used to show full), so checked the level with the dipstick and yes it was low, actually lower than what the sensor...
