If they find anything in the oil they need to drop the pan and inspect the oil filter intake for blockage. Also check the bearing seal for damage.

If you choose to lube them, you only need a very thin coating of high-temp silicone grease. Mostly, it'll keep the pins from corroding, and provide a bit of slippery. Lubing "the crap out of them"...

It's manageable, but a lot of work. BavAuto has some detailed vids. Suggestion is to have a shop swap the springs. You can rent the tool, etc, but if you have a shop they'll do it in 15 minutes...
