Great to hear, you'll probably see a little smoke for a few days as you burn off the residual oil in the intake. Keep an eye on the oil consumption, hopefully it'll have dropped back to normal again....

Surprised he took the time to open up the ccv to inspect it when he may as well have just replaced the part for no extra labour.
My money is still on the ccv or oil separator if it's blue smoke that...

For the 323 your best bet is to find a used 328 or M3 exhaust midsection at a wrecker and just swap that in. It's a bolt off, bolt on kinda job so will cost you zero $ to DIY.

That's crazy, exactly the same noise and symptoms as on my E36. Like with you OP, my noise started after replacing the CCV with a brand new one from the dealer. I ended up pulling the intake manifold...

Sounds like a decent idea, due to it's weight a stock E36 would most likely be able to match or exceed the e34 performance wise, and there are quite a lot of tuning options available for the platform.

There is a check valve on the brake booster line that may be faulty or possibly a vacuum leak from the booster hose. Both are uncommon but worth looking into.
