BMW dealerships don't have "lifetime warranties" on electronics. You get two years at best...then you're back on your own.

Aftermarket vendors may have lifetime warranties, though....like VDO...

The biggest thing to deal with is the build date of 4/99. If your e39 was built BEFORE 4/99...then you have the single stage air bag set-up and the seats and seatbelt set up is totally different...
