As someone who has done a lot of towing, I would not recommend towing her car. From a financial perspective, if towing is a one time event or very rare, it does not make sense.

As far as driving,...

I am scheduled for this repair on June 6. Honestly, I think it is a heat issue caused by the turbos.

Many of the items in these recalls all sit in or near the valley where the turbos are placed....

I own a 2012 X5 50i that I purchased new. I would never buy a BMW with any iteration of the N63/S63 motor. My experience with Land Rover and Mercedes (AMG specifically) has been far better than my...

Mecheng,
Some people Google the vin number when they are researching a purchase. If you post the vin number, it could potentially help someone to avoid purchasing a headache.

Honestly, I see it...

Without any real diagnosis, we can only speculate. It could be a water pump (most likely), perhaps a thermostat or sensor or something else.

What steps have been taken to identify the root cause...

Changing transmission oil - how about differential and transfer case?

This is always a touchy subject. I will make a simple statement and step back.

Let's be honest, any BMW with the N63 motor is a plug in hybrid

Any modern vehicle that needs a battery every year and is recommended to put on a battery tender if you drive mainly short distances is really just a plug in hybrid.
