I'll vote of water under the front pass side...

I'll vote of water under the front pass side carper corroding the fuse block and it's connections.
That fuse block distributes power to everything in the drivers compartment.

Those are only 16 watt bulbs, the M5 OEM bulbs are 55 watts so you will need to add a load resistor to each bulb as mholman said.
