$2k sounds kinda low I bet but with those miles, 525 and salvage title...seller would be hard pressed to get that in a year from sale...regardless of what he does to it!

Locating this...I believe you can find what you're looking for either by contacting a junkyard with a blown engine and there are plenty of them use this to locate one Car-Parts...

are you nervous about something? Reading a lot on the timing chain guide job? Don't sweat it, keep your oil clean your car will 'warn' you that there is an issue with a loud rattle, when it happens...

Well...

If you aren't experincing any startup rattle you're okay. As the engine turns over the oil pump fills the tensioner thus applying pressure to the chain...removing slack...

AFAIK the steering shafts aren't aluminum...

He asked you to go to REAL OEM and get a part number...do you have any pics of this? I've been on this board and afew others since 2007 and never heard...

Do NOT buy any engine or components that are not running...my boy just helped a friend (put one in a 325) and it ended up the person that sold the engine lied it had a coolant leak...needing a new...

Nope engine should be the same...but, that said just keep your old engine until the process is complete just in case you need something...but you do need to make sure the engine is out of a 99 or...

Ok,

Well you're on the right track...that motor is toast...may as well find a replacement engine...I was looking at the pic and all the aluminum shavings all over the place indicate some severe damage......

Lubriplate 105 Engine assy lube, stuff has been part o all my tractor rebuilds and never had any problem... In the BMWs I use it and 0w-40 for the first 100 miles or so then change the oil...

There is something else going on that we do not see...

It is highly doubtful that the tensioner not expanding is the cause for this and the theory is highly suspect...there is something he missed...
