Ok, so the temp leveled off at about 85-87 Celsius for highway cruising and 88-93 for city driving.

Ended up replacing vcg myself with no effect (30 gasket is only cost so why not). Mechanic found ccv leak that i couldnt see from under car (lifters give much better visibility than jack stands)....

I wouldn't just assume the sensor is bad...if it is coming on every 500 mi and you add a quart of oil and it comes on again 500 later it probably means you are leaking/consuming oil. Check your oil...

Fixed! Thank you all so much! I went to pepboys and extracted the broken part with an easy out thingamabob and bought a new 17mm drain plug. Time for a test drive, but everything looks good.
