I had the same think, but it was the CD player, which I had never used, was stuck 1/2 open with the cassette, and would stay on and drain the battery in about three days.

I seem to remember a flashing CEL indicates a misfire, and I had two coils bad at one time and the car ran like that. it also went into limp home mode, which sucks.

It certainly could, but it is not one of the first things that I would think of. I wouldnt think it was related to temperature, but you never know.

did you check fuel supply? unhook intake fuel...

did you check fuel supply? unhook intake fuel line and see if it pumps into a jug? See if started lights a test light?

I had a whine from back there

It was the fuel pump. Very loud whirring/whine that was inconsistent. I figured out that it changed pitch slightly with the amount of fuel in the tank. Replaced and good as new.

I got it very cheap, and it has a leak in the roof and PITA electrical parasitic loss, but I am working on them. I was just noticing the deals on CL for e38's and e39's and wanted to up my chances...

I have a nice 1997 e38 with a good motor and trans, one owner only has 129K on both and runs perfectly. I believe it is the M62 pre TU motor, but I don't know about the trans...

Yes, the leak was terrible and there was at one point 3inches of water in the passenger floorboard. I replaced the fusebox down there, but I am taking your advice and working on the parasitic loss....

That's what I thought

I was more curious about the tune and getting that much Hp out of the same engine that made 325 stock. But it sure sounded good. If you read as many CL ads as I do, you can 'spot the outliers.'

I agree. a little bit of weirdness is little time and effort to fix. If the timing guides are good, and the tranny is good, It is easily worth 500$ in parts.

so, the codes are listed in hexadecimal, and then it makes sense, you have to find a converter online...

Involved DTC code question

I have a 1997 e38, M62 with a 5.2 DME.

I run for codes with carsoft and get:

70/D8 Phase sensor (I think that means Camshaft position sensor)

I look up code 70 in the Bentley manual and...
