Plastidip is cheap and you can always remove it if you don't like it. Now I don't have chrome trim but Plastidip gave new life to the plastic bits of my front bumper. Just as easy as spray painting...

If it's one bulb out of eight (two halogen bulbs in the front and two sets of at least three in the back) then it's likely just a burnt bulb that needs to be replaced.

Typically when e39 owners upgrade to an M5 bumper they also retrofit HID fogs, for the very reason that the splicing of wires is a bit simpler when the bumper is off.

I found that same DIY on the Volvo forums and used it on my 1996-2000 fog lights. Even with electric buffers, you need some elbow grease. Not as easy as polishing headlights, but it works.

The 2008 E60 (LCI) as well as other newer BMWs use the inner angel eye as the DRL. An H8 bulb shines directly onto the high beam ring, and some of the light is "leaked" into the outer low beam ring....

It is the default temperature that is displayed when your temperature sensor is malfunctioning. Likely it's been broken off; this happens to many e39s due to the fact that the sensor is mounted...
