I have heard/ read too many horror stories about the re-manufactured Bosch alternators not having new regulators...

Yes, makes sense for it to blow because of being dirty, but, weird that both bulbs blew at the same time...
Definitely stay away from the Sylvania 7406 bulbs with the cheap blue film that flakes off...

My local Walmart has both.
However, the Castrol 0w40 was cheaper at $21.66, while the Mobil 1 0w-40 was ~$25 for a 5 quart jug.
Both are BMW LL-01 approved.
And, totally agree with "540 M-Sport"....

Same for the oil fill cap as well...
Needs to be stock OEM IMO...

I did the Pilot mod - connecting a vacuum hose from the back of the intake manifold, to the plugged port on the CCV.
I did not notice any difference.
BTW, this was my 4th CCV...

I highly recommend using BMW LL-01 approved oil, or just use the OEM 5w-30 oil from the dealer.
BMW LL-01 = BMW Long Life 2001.

I would not connect to the intake manifold/ air distribution piece at all.

I would connect somewhere at the intake elbow tubing, or vent though a filter to the exterior.

When the Ccv goes bad, it will create positive pressure within the crankcase/ engine head and blow the seals.
The Ccv's job is to exit blow-by out of the crankcase via vacuum which helps the low...

Valve cover gasket, and/ or oil filter housing gasket, and/ or oil pan gasket is probably blown from a bad CCV...
Oil has probably contaminated the spark plugs and oxygen sensors too...
