The pump runs for a minute or so on cold start. The extrs air added air reduces cold start richness related pollution. Thats all. It has no other function.

Follow the Bav Auto troubleshooting instructions. They are good.

In my car, the wrong 2 pin terminal was connected to the vacuum switch....

I have a K D 3916 tool and it looks like the one pictured. About $30. It is a nice tool and makes popping a ball joint into a non event. Used it today when installing a new front wheel bearing.
