Ive had great luck with carchex. If you search on my user name i have posted a few times about it. They alos just covered several $k worth of work fixing multiple leaking gaskets and a wather pump....

I had the same problem. Had to have the idrive controller replaced. Would have been abt $800 or so at the dealer, but my ext warranty covered it.

Bad news

That quote seems high even for a dealer. I think my dealer quoted around $750 or $800, iirc. That was about 1.5 years ago though. Id find a good indy.

Thanks again for the response! Thing to keep in mind is that I have 2 small kids, and am fortunate to have a pretty tricked out garage, so "wasting" time wrenching on cars becomes a Zen experience...
