Did you check the heat shields in the drive shaft tunnel. Mine gave me a problem and I had to fabricate some wire supports to keep them up in place- easy fix.

Yes a quick fix is with a screw type hose clamp. Mine has lasted a couple of years now with only once needing to retighten - that's the good thing about the screw clamp you can tighten it.

There is a lot of talk about the cam lock tools - should have but can do without. I'm just not clear why a special machined locking tool is needed. Can't one just add marks for the proper alignment...

Top if not fully automatic is not a big deal. Just convert it to manual raise/lower and wire in a double throw switch to operate the hard cover motor.
