Tension strut ball joint siezed

I can't get the tension strut ball joint out of the steering knuckle. I guess 8 years of snow and salt have done their magic. Any ideas on how to get it out?

Worse case I guess I'll have to take...

Still got a ways to go to catch up to you guys . My 08 has 183k miles (295k kilometers for the canucks). Went to the dealership to look at a cpo'd low mileage 2013 x3 but couldn't pull the trigger....
