MTEC 3.0 unless there is a newer version out. There is a search tool to use for the forum...whatever may be the reason/issue you have believe its been discussed before.

If its a metal clip (retainer) to hold it in place that shouldn't be the reason for the code. I would back track and make sure all your wires are connected to their proper place free of kinks...also...

He is converting his car which is a non-sport model into a sport model. There are certain differences on the car that make a bit distinctive from a regular model 7series.

With all of your misfires, there's a possibility that there's no fuel being delivered. Thus, maybe a faulty fuel pump. I had this issue a few years back. It underneath the back seat. I would test it...

I have it also and I would prefer it over the glossy finish. Just as you said, almost every car I've seen with the gloss finish has a crack in it. Mine still looks good as new.

Yep....Like I mentioned earlier most parts will break/malfunction and can't help but be replaced. I just recently replaced an iDrive controller as well but I don't consider something like that major....

If you put everything back together correctly you may have bought some faulty bulbs. I would try putting your old bulbs back in to make sure you don't have any connection issues.
