16" Style 5 on 87' 535i, need spacer and hub extender?

I got a set of 16" style 5 wheels with 225/16/55 tires on them. I installed them and noticed the fronts are rubbin the struts. From what I researched, I need at least a 5pm spacer. I also saw a post...

Googled around, only found instruction for E30

Are the instruction similar? can i follow the e30 instruction and work it on my e28?

the sound are like springs being tighten...i dont know if that make sense

I have a 97 M3 Sedan (at 140k miles). I am experiencing issues with steering. It's hard to steer (both left and right) at low and normal speed, almost like it has not power...
