Don't pay him anything until you have a key that actually works. He can cut a key that will turn the ignition but I don't see how he is going to make it work with the EWS.

Your FSU should be replaced. It is draining the battery by running the fan (often at very low speeds) even when the car is turned off. Next you probably need a new battery.

Start the car, turn on the radio then flip down the visor. Try both driver and passangers side. Does it make any electrical systems go wierd? If so it's the ignition switch.
