Since you mentioned that you had a fuel pressure gauge connected, I'm guessing that the fuel pressure was normal. If the vacuum at the dipstick tube is normal, a smoke test would make a lot of sense...

A lot of people would do it preemptively, figuring if one pulley goes out, the others probably don't have much life left in them. As I recall, I replaced mine selectively, judging by how they felt....

I'd be surprised if injectors were the issue. I doubt that a single injector failure would produce a lean condition for the entire bank, just as I doubt that multiple injectors would fail at the same...
