Not sure about 2016, but production for the 2015 5 series began in mid July. I ordered in late June and had to wait a few weeks to get the order entered and a production slot.

To each their own but IMO I would look for one with the in-line 6, especially for the 5 series. Not sure when the last year was for a non-turbo 528, but the BMW 6 turbo or not is a sweet engine.

Not an X5 owner but made the switch from gas to diesel with my 2015 535d.

I think its a great choice for large vehicles (actually all vehicles). You get great torque, superb mileage and range....

1. Cost of fuel. When I ordered the car the difference in diesel vs. premium was 0-0.20/gal. negligible in my mind....
