I agree. The non-shiny parts are the first to go. If the exterior is in bad shape, good chance the insides will be, too.

Few have tried to fix that, and even fewer succeed. Replacement is the only (real) option.

Good news is after replacement it will probably last the rest of your ownership.

Yes. And that's exactly what I did, ZHP arms on a 325Ci (albeit an '03).

Make sure you inspect what you get when buying the arms. Apparently for a while Pelican Parts was shipping non-ZHP arms...
