No worries

I have staggered 66's on my (non-sport) 2000 528i. No issues.
When I lift the rear tires off the ground, the camber change causes the tires to gently rub the inside bottom of the plastic wheel...

I am local

BBA is in Taunton, Ma, local for me. I brought my ABS in and they started soldering but deemed it unrepairable. I bought a new one instead. $450 I think. Don't forget the 1 hour programming at the...

Update: now functioning

ModernRocketry, thanks for your input.

So after failing to engage reverse on 4 separate occasions yesterday, I was able to back into my driveway last night. The car has engaged reverse on 3...

No Reverse.

2000 528i 9/99 build. Things have been pretty solid for a while. I pulled into work today and went to back in and had nothing. Back into drive and no problem. Let things cool and went out 3 hrs later...

I have also been living with this missing lead

My ambient temp sensor is also missing and I have no stray wires. The prior owner was in some small front enders. Maybe the body trimmed the loose wire next to the harness. I have gone in deep...

I have ordered. Thanks. I will have to read several times to get the incentive and courage to take this on.

This is the gold

Cn 90
This info is gold to me. Thank you. Nice DIY, JimLev. My initial clicks show this as no longer available. Has anyone sourced this part recently?
Thanks a million.

Self inflicted sunroof damage

Friends

So I am lifting a 93 pound lawn mower onto my roof racks to do a good deed. I had left the sunroof on 'tilt-up-open', lost my balance doing tie downs and put my palm on to the high part....

Partial oil change

There are those here that recommend emptying the reservoir with a baster and refilling every oil change as a partial refresh. I suggest that my slow leak may accomplish the same. Thanks for the tips...

Great timing

I purchased the same kit from FCP. I had to replace the oil filter housing gasket first and finished that this past weekend using several posts from this board.

Now that the oil sloppiness is...

Has anyone swapped L & R seat cushions?

At 190K mi., my drivers seat stitching is tiring. I was sitting in the passenger side to do some cleaning and noted how much more supportive it is. The electricals are different on each side, but the...

Rear coils cracked

Conventional wisdom on this board is that Springs rarely wear out. Last fall I replaced the rear shocks on my non-sport 2000 528i at 180K miles. When I removed them, I was surprised to see that the...

Do it with the motor cold

I read on this board or on the forum that someone damaged their OFH threads while taking apart a hot/warm motor. This poster wished that he attempted this on a cold motor. Made sense to me. I can't...

Style 66

I paid $1200 for a set about 4 years ago. They were new-take offs. Mint. Of course I cry every time I see a new curb strike. The tires, while mint, did not last long.

Triage

You can replace lots of pieces for dependability. You probably ripped the boot while manhandling some other repair. The more often you are in there, the easier it is to find the one way a part slides...

OK so I can leave the obd plugged in when this intermittent fault becomes a more common nuisance. The car is at 186K original sensors. That makes preventative sense, too.

Can I plug this scanner in WHILE the car is running? Is it safer to start with systems off? Can I leave it plugged in while I drive?

Thanks for your input

I installed pagids that lasted 85-90K miles. Good stoppers, dusty. Replaced with house brand ceramics from consumer auto parts because I noticed how low they were when I was doing struts. I am not...
