You don't need to, but putting it on stands will save your back and allow you access to dropped bolts.

Yes I've replaced mine and yes always replace the gasket. I went cheap once and decided to re-use the old one and it started fogging after a couple years.

You may get away without replacing it....

As pointed out it's probably more than just the ps pump and associated hoses. My cars have identical setups sans the LF30/LF20 pumps. They feel exactly the same to me.
