Could be a fuel pump going bad....easy enough check at the fuel rail with a pressure gage.....look for 50 plus ponds per square inch.

Mine still passes State inspection , so I just cancel the code out about once a month .

Ticking is normally in valve train.

Get it looked at. And next time ( or engine) , consider using Mobil 1 0W40 .... It will help in case...

Do the one easy check to eliminate one possibility next:

Check your fuel pressure at the rail on top of the engine. It should read 55 psi plus.

You may be lean because of a failing fuel pump.

Late to this thread, but your symptoms point to restricted air intake .

A dirty air filter will result in these exact symptoms over time as the onboard computer try's to maintain the air / fuel...
