Yeah not having a place to DIY on this is a pain. CSB replacement is probably one of those repairs where if you are in this situation, you still don't want to give the work to the lowest bidder.

To replace a CSB, the two-piece driveshaft has to be separated. The front and back shafts have to be marked (with white-out or whatever) to ensure that they are lined up exactly on the same splines....

You can get those out with an easy-out extractor...

You can get those out with an easy-out extractor bit. They are a fairly common metric thread screw that many hardware chains carry (Lowes, Home Depot, etc). Helps to PB Blaster them and wait a bit.

Check that brake booster compartment and drain routinely, especially if you park outside....

My '99 doesn't have those freeze plugs like the earlier sixes. If you are seeing oil all over that side of the engine, be sure to check the Vanos line for weeping crimp connections first. Much easier...
