You didn't say how many miles on the car, but I'd "wag" it and change the lower control arm bushings, left and right sides. It'll make a difference. Check the wiki for a DIY, and go for it.

Castrol 0-w30 euro is the only thing I've run in my '03 since new. I'm at 190k this morn with no issues. I also run it in my son's '99 328is with fewer miles but same results. I reccomend it.
