How would they never mate properly? That doesn't sound right. An engine swap would only be easier if you have all the right tools, like a hoist and stand. Arse pain either way.

The pics of the internals give some clue as to the way the car has been treated. The cams are reasonably clean and no sludge, indicating it has had pretty decent oil change...

Go over the rubber with a rag soaked in mineral...

Go over the rubber with a rag soaked in mineral spirits. That will take off the oxidation. Then go over it with something like Back to Black.

Doesnt the crank sensor need to be shimmed correctly to get the correct reading from the flywheel? If the crank sensor isnt working right the engine will not run.

Look in the trunk on the drivers side for the nav drive. If it has the DVD logo on the drive its a Mk IV, If it has nothing or the CD logo its a mk III.

Glad to hear its fixed. Hopefully it wont come back. It may have been a faulty fuse, or there could be a real electrical issue. A 30 amp is a pretty big fuse. Strange.

"Enough power" is so subjective its not even worth talking about, but I will anyway. My 528 has plenty of power. But I dont think my 987 R has nearly enough. All depends on what your doing.
