Yes, been there...BMW swapped out the rims as they were "<1mm buckled" - my fault of course, but we came to an agreement. The upshot no different, so they put on new tyres. I now have two spare rims...

I never thought of that, but now that you mention it I sometimes catch myself checking (as silly as it sounds) to see if a car is a 3 or a 5 series.

Yes, but all I'm saying is if you can't afford to fix it IF it goes wrong...then don't buy one. Some of us (lots of us) happen to like SMG but would go so far as to try and tell others not to buy...

E46 M3 fluids are a whole heap different than those for a 325i. I would ask in the e46 forum. The M3 has LSD and uses 75W140 and also needs an additive. I think the 325 needs 75W90 in the diff, but...

Most SMG M3s are just fine.

Long story...they did run out tests on the rims and said they were buckled...which I was not prepared to accept. They replaced the tires which made for a smooth ride at all speeds.
