Nobody is going to be able give you any MEANINGFUL feedback about oil viscosities. Use one the viscosities specified by BMW (in your owner's manual).

The Bentley manual also notes this aluminum vs. cast iron difference in the M vs. S inline six-cylinder blocks, as well as the cast iron M44 four-cylinder block, but all with aluminum cylinder heads....
